ACF Consulting Forestry Courses

A major goal of an agreement between ACF and the NWTF is to cooperate in reaching out to landowners to help them understand the importance of using a professional forester to manage and market the landowner’s forest resources.  NWTF is very interested in promoting land management professionals and takes every opportunity to suggest to landowners that they should seek the advice of an experienced forester when crafting timber management plans, whether for the production of timber or turkeys. They also want landowners to understand that professionals can best advise them as to the optimum ways to integrate recreational and timber production objectives.

ACF member Sam Carlton of Walterboro, SC, and forester John Cheathan of Edgefield, SC with American Forest Management were featured on Get in the Game.  The show was last broadcasted in August and is scheduled to be shown again in November, 2008.

Sam and John explain the benefits to landowners of hiring a professional forester to manage their timber.

Get in the Game television takes viewers across the nation sharing wildlife and land management tips for attracting wildlife to your property.

Wild Turkey Federation Has Opportunities for ACF Members

Excerpt from Winter 2008 ACF Newsletter

“…the NWTF is a major conservation organization, with over 500,000 members in 50 states and 16 foreign countries. There are over 300 employees working at the Edgefield headquarters. I encourage our entire membership to visit the on-site museum. The displays incorporate many aspects of forest management. The experience was also a little frightening. To those of us who are naturally shy and most at home wandering the woods, the experience of having a camera and microphone pointed at you while trying to talk intelligently will not be soon forgotten.  Sam Carlton

NWTF Invites ACF Chapter Chairs to work with their Regional Biologists

In November, 2007, Bryan Burhans, Director of Land Management Programs at the NWTF wrote letters of invitation to ACF Chapter Chairs to explore joint activities with NWTF at the local level.  Bryan is very interested in cooperating with ACF members to help landowners improve their land to attract wildlife through active forest management conducted by a natural resource professional.

ACF & NWTF Join Hands

This agreement, signed at our winter board meeting by President Ed Steigerwaldt, outlines potential cooperation between ACF and the 500,000 members of the NWTF for projects that promote sound forest management and maintain our hunting heritage.  NWTF will inform their members about ACF and that we are an important resource for landowners interested in assistance in managing their property.  ACF will provide opportunities for NWTF to present information on joining their Habitat Pro-Staff program and how to volunteer for other ways of supporting NWTF activities such as Women in the Outdoors, JAKES, and local banquets and meetings.

Those ACF members who decide to become Pro-Staff will also be able to enroll landowners in the Wild Turkey Woodlands Recognition Program.
